Other Resources for those wishing to participate
Look to the National Women's History Project's web site for historical background . A fascinating new book, "Winning the Vote," is replete with large photos of those past parades and confirms that the suffragettes learned that spectacular events, i.e., parades were most effective in changing public opinion as well as being the most economical use of their limited funds.
The web site of the relatively new National Women's History Museum in Washington, D. C. also catalogues actual clothing worn by principals in the movement, a great aid to volunteer seamstresses. Search through thrift stores for appropriate skirts, blouses, hats, etc., and seek out rental costumers who might offer reduced rates for this event.
